IFT Achievement Awards

IFT's community advances the science of food and its application to drive positive change within the global food system. Each year, IFT recognizes the impactful work of its community through our Achievement Awards, celebrating individuals and teams who are improving food for everyone.

The IFT Board of Directors and award partners introduced several enhancements to the awards program this cycle, including: 1) increased honoraria, and 2) improved schedules to boost awareness and participation across all awards while ensuring a positive experience for jurors, nominators, and nominees.

2026 Achievement Awards 

  • Collaborative Research Grant in honor of Marcel Loncin – $50,000

  • Distinguished Career Award in honor of Carl R. Fellers, PhD – $3,000

  • Distinguished Lipid and Flavor Science Award in honor of Stephen S. Chang – $5,000

  • Food Packaging Award in honor of Don Riester, Rees Davis, and Aaron Brody – $5,000

  • Include Award in honor of George Washington Carver – $5,000

  • Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of Nicolas Appert – $5,000

  • Outstanding Young Scientist Award in honor of Samuel Cate Prescott – $5,000

  • Research and Development Award – $5,000

  • Sensory and Consumer Sciences Achievement Award – $3,000
